Holding Le Duff (France), via subsidiary Bridor SAS → Laurent Bakery Group Pty Ltd
completedFrench bakery and food-service group Holding Le Duff, via its industrial bakery subsidiary Bridor SAS, agreed to acquire Melbourne-based Laurent Bakery Group from private equity firm BGH Capital in a deal valuing the business at approximately A$650 million. Terms were agreed in December 2024 and the sale completed in early March 2025. Laurent Bakery operates around 15-18 branded retail stores in Melbourne and supplies artisan breads to more than 1,000 supermarkets and wholesale customers across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
Bridor/Le Duff sought to expand its global premium bakery and viennoiserie footprint into the Asia-Pacific region, adding Laurent's established Australian manufacturing base, retail network and wholesale supermarket distribution relationships to its international portfolio, consistent with a broader run of bakery bolt-on acquisitions by the group (it later also acquired Spain's Panamar Bakery Group).
BGH Capital, which had held a controlling stake in Laurent Bakery since 2021, used the sale as an exit that reportedly delivered around a three-times return on its investment, monetising the growth achieved under its ownership.
Not applicable (both parties are privately held; no listed securities affected).
Trade press framed the deal as one of the largest Australian food and beverage private-equity exits in recent years and as Le Duff's largest bakery acquisition to date, extending its "Bridor" industrial bakery brand into the Australian and broader Asia-Pacific market.
